Syosset Rowing was lucky enough this week to have long time rower and coach Marqus Brown join our Zoom call.

Marqus began his rowing career at in High School at the prestigious Girard College in Philadelphia, where he still resides. After competing at the collegiate level, Marqus coached at the Division 1 Level and also in the teaching form at RowZone just outside Philadelphia. In his post graduate career, Marqus competed with Penn AC and Vesper Rowing Club where he has since broken 6:00 2K in his fight for a spot on the US National Team. Marqus rows competitively in the Summer months as well as indoor series’ across the United States.

The main message of Marqus’ Webinar Wednesday was being students of the sport. Stressing the importance of mental and physical toughness with attention to detail. Every stroke counts. Marqus explained to Syosset rowers how we every practice can be used as another opportunity to shine. Every workout is one step closer to a faster 2k. Thank you Marqus for sharing your wisdom on staying motivated, investing into rowing and a proper mindset!
